The Ultimate Boot Camp

It's amazing how I came to be here at Camp Tejas. Let's just say that it was God's plan for me to be here. I took a leap of faith and left everything in Houston behind - putting my discipleship on hold, canceling my spiritual gifts class, temporarily giving up my position in house church for the summer, and leaving my family. Being at Camp Tejas was something I have been waiting for. I needed an experience like this; I needed the change. Once I got here, I knew that this would be an awesome place. I can focus fully on God without any distractions and grow spiritually stronger than ever before.

Camp Tejas has everything you would ever need to grow in your walk with Christ. Everyday, they challenge you physically, mentally, and especially, spiritually. Everyday, we set aside group prayer, quiet time, and devotion as part of the schedule. We also have guy's/girl's discipleship and an accountability group that meets up once a week. I have learned so many things since I've been here. A cool thing I learned was prayer walking. It's neat to learn a new different way of talking to God. Also, here they teach you how to be true servants of God. Cleaning after kids and the youth is not quite the greatest thing to do, but what keeps me going and strong is Ephesians 6:7-Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men. Learning to have a better servant heart has taught me to be patient and have a better attitude.

Another thing is that hanging out with other Christians who have the same passion as me has really built me up. The staff has always been encouraging to others, which makes me want to encourage others as much as I can. I now understand what fellowship is all about.

So far already throughout this summer, I already know I have changed. It's all because I have been seeking God in a more intimate way here. God has revealed many things in my life on how I can be more Christ-like. Camp Tejas is not just a Christian camp, it's the ultimate boot camp...spiritually that is.
